Experience is probably my most valuable asset – after almost a decade as a tech editor I’ve seen just about everything!
My specialisms include grading, pattern writing from spec, stranded colourwork, yokes of all types and ganseys.
My most recent major project as a tech editor was Anna Maltz’ new book, Marlisle: A New Direction in Knitting. I am also part of the technical team for Knit Now and The Knitter magazines and work regularly with a number of other yarn companies and independent designers.
I take a collaborative, long-term approach to technical work. As well as tackling the pattern in question, my aim is always to help the designer I am working with improve their overall pattern writing skills and accuracy. And of course, there is always something we can learn from each other.
I offer tuition in grading and pattern writing to regular clients and also mentor several up and coming designers.
My available services include:
- Technical editing
- Grading, to CYC standards, my standards or your in-house set
- Pattern writing from a single size spec
- Vintage pattern re-writes, grading and technical editing
- Image editing (Photoshop)
- Charts (Illustrator, Stitchmastery)
- Schematics (Illustrator, Inkscape)
